About Carlsberg India

Carlsberg entered India in May 2006 by incorporating a company named South Asia Breweries Pvt. Ltd. The name changed to Carlsberg India Private Limited in February 2009 to reflect the company as a part of the Carlsberg Group. Commercial operations commenced in 2007 with the beginning of production in Paonta Sahib Brewery in Himachal Pradesh. Carlsberg India became the #3 player in the Indian beer market within the first 4 years of operations and till date continues to hold the position. To add to this, Brand Tuborg is the #2 beer brand and the #1 international beer brand in the country.

Carlsberg India focuses on developing and strengthening its brand portfolio through innovation and commitment to superior quality. The product portfolio of the company includes our flagship brand Carlsberg Green and Carlsberg Elephant, Tuborg Green, Tuborg Strong and Tuborg Classic. Carlsberg India offers beer for every occasion and for every palate and lifestyle.

  • Carlsberg Green, our flagship brand was launched in September 2007
  • Carlsberg India through its brands Tuborg Green launched in March 2009 and Tuborg Strong introduced in May 2010 was the first in India to introduce innovative packaging in the form of a unique pull-off cap, which does not need a bottle opener and another introduction of the easy to grip packaging in 2012. The launch of Tuborg Strong pioneered the Premium Strong beer category in India.
  • The launch of Carlsberg Elephant in January 2011, pioneered the Super Premium Strong beer category in India
  • Carlsberg India launched Tuborg Classic with Scotch malls, India’s first premium strong beer with Scotch Malts in April 2017
  • Over the years Carlsberg India has successfully established 6 operational Breweries across India and 4 contract manufacturing associations
    • Acquired a brewery at Paonta Sahib, in Himachal Pradesh in June 2007
    • Established a brewery in Alwar, Rajasthan in March 2008
    • Established a brewery in Aurangabad, Maharashtra in August 2008
    • Brewery in Hoogly (near Kolkata), West Bengal in June 2009
    • Established brewery in Medak (near Hyderabad) in December 2010
    • Acquired a brewery in Dharuhera, Haryana In October 2012
    • Laid foundation stone for 7th Brewery in Karnataka in 2017
